| My Best Clayton Memory: | When Eric Schwitzer broke the jar of crab claws he'd been storing for six months and the smell created an immediate evacuation of the entire school (so Cosgrove and I went to 905 to restock the van's cooler with Colt 45 wide mouths/not that we wouldn't have skipped third period to do that anyway). |
| My Worst Clayton Memory: | When Eric Schwitzer broke the jar of crab claws he'd been storing for six months and the smell created an immediate evacuation of the entire school (man that was awful / it's debatable if this smell was worse than when the year old chocolate milk cartons in Leon's locker broke and cleared the school out again the following year) |
| What will I never forget about CHS: | When I was a freshman my mom and I lived in the second floor apartment directly across from the Little Theater. She bought me a brand new set of ESS speakers and a 80 watt Dynaco amp. During third period (again) I put one speaker in each window and blasted "Cinnamon Girl" by Neil Young directly at Clayton High to see what kind of reaction I could get (from the speakers and the high school). I went back to the school while it was playing and everybody was walking around trying to figure out where Neil Young was. The sound was reverberating through the Quadrangle and some people thought the sound was coming from the Annex! I went back to the apartment and cut it off before anyone of authority could figure the source. The next audio assault occurred when I put glasspacks on the Road Runner and used to park where the exhaust was dead even with the windows in Mr. Armstrong's basement history class. Of course I always had to sit and idle till the engine warmed up which meant Mr. Armstrong had to sit and idle till he warmed up (the sound was the equivalent of Neil Young playing "Cinnamon Girl"/just as loud and just as sweet). People in that class used to tell me Mr. Armstrong would always stop class and wait patiently for me to leave (usually accompanied with me revving the engine for good measure and doing a burnout around Mark Twain Circle (oh, youth)! |
| My Best Friends at CHS: | '69 Ford Van & '69 Plymouth Road Runner |
| Where did I go after CHS? | U.S. Navy Seabees 1976-1978 (Florida, Mississippi, California & Spain) Then back to good old St. Louis to work for Greg Able's dad, then Charlie Schmitt's dad, then Danny Schmitt, then The St. Louis Car Museum and finally FedEx Custom Critical Passport Auto Transport. Also found time & energy to create "Martini Central" in 1995. |
