| Where did I go after CHS? | I've
had a long, circuitous journey after CHS. I studied Ancient History first
at Yale and then at Penn. Then I wrote my dissertation on an Egyptological
subject, and published a few papers in Egyptology and then found I had
*become* an Egyptologist ... and was thus unemployable. I did teach for
three years at Leiden Univ. and two at Johns Hopkins, and I held a
research fellowship at Oxford. But then I couldn't stand the uncertainty
any more and went to law school (back at Yale). After clerking and a few
more fellowships, I finally have a tenure track job at Seton Hall Law
School in Newark. I do not know whether its fame reaches as far as St.
Louis, but I love my colleagues and the atmosphere of the school and am
very, very happy to be settled. It is also nice to be near New York.
I never married. In my free time, I like Scottish Dancing and English novels; and I go back to England and Holland as often as I can. |
